Gail Lopes is a retired lawyer with specialties in corporate and employment law. For the past 15 years, she has focused on nonprofit law and governance. She is the current Vice-Chair of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Board, and previously served on two additional boards where she was Board Chair: the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) in New York City and Students Rising Above in the California Bay Area. She is also currently on the Theatre Communications Group National Advisory Council and is the Co-Chair of TCG’s National Governance Task Force.
Earlier in her career, Gail spent ten years at the law firm of Morrison & Forester, after which she left to found a consulting firm specializing in strategic planning and business development for law firms. Next, she joined an early-stage software company as Vice President of Product Development, where she oversaw the development of expert systems and document assembly software, and later became Vice President at an internet-based company serving the legal community.
She graduated from UCLA with a degree in English and received her law degree from Harvard Law School.
